Massage Licensing

Massage Therapy Examination

Historically, The State Medical Board of Ohio has administered the exam for graduates to become Licensed Massage Therapists. However, on January 24, 2012, this changed and the exam is now administered through the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. The State Medical Board of Ohio continues to regulate the massage therapy profession and the Scope of Practice as well as provides licensure to those who pass the MBLEx.

In order for one to receive become a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), applicants must have passed the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) administered through the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards and meet all the requirements for licensure under Ohio law. The licensure application may be downloaded by clicking on the link below. Applications may also be requested by sending an e-mail to Med.CT.MT@med.state.oh.us or by calling the Medical Board at
614-466-3934. The application fee is $200.00.
